I've definitely broken away from Welliver's figurative lid and am trying to construct images out of brush strokes rather than forcing the brush stokes inside of a preconceived image.

I'm not sure exactly when I did this series of oil sketches on cardboard. I found them among old work and thought they were rather powerful. It looks like they were all done on the same day.
The same impulse and color use is carried through all of them.
